How it works

Pick it. Share it. They open it.

  1. 1

    Pick a card

Choose a front, say who it is for and when the day is. Then pay once.

  2. 2

    Share one link

Send it to the group chat. Everyone opens it in their browser and writes, or records a clip.

  3. 3

They open it on the day

At the time you pick. Everything everyone wrote, together, on their phone.

Easier than passing a card round.

Stuck for words? Everyone gets a question.

One at a time, about the person. Answer it in your own words, or write without one.

  • Something Maya did this year that you still think about.
  • A day Maya made better just by turning up.
  • Something Maya taught you without meaning to.
  • The story about Maya you tell most.

Nobody pays to sign.

The person who starts the card pays once. Everybody else just writes.

Sealed until the day.

They can't see it filling up. It opens on the day, at the time you pick.

Nasty notes stay off.

A check reads every message as it arrives. You can read anything it held back and put it on the card.

Changed your mind?

Take the card down before the day and it is refunded in full.

Everyone in one film.

Record a clip or pick a video. On the day, they get a film of everybody, and every message.

Thought of something else?

Write another. Anyone can add more than one message before the day.

The tbf app for iPhone

The card is for the big day. The app is for every other day.

Something reminds you of somebody. Write them a note, starting tbf, and they keep it.

  • One group card a month is free in the app.
  • A private space with each person: a partner, a sister, a friend.
  • Keep what they write about you, on your phone.

Questions

How does a group card work?

You pick a card and pay. You share one link, and everyone writes a message or records a clip in their browser. On the day, they open the card with everything everyone wrote.

Does everyone need the app or an account?

No. Signing takes a name and a message, in any browser. The person the card is for reads it in a browser too.

Can people add a video?

Yes. Everyone can record a clip or pick a video as well as writing. On the day, the card comes with a film of everybody.

Can somebody write more than one message?

Yes. They open the link again and write another, any time before the day.

Do people pay to sign?

No. Only the person who starts the card pays. One card a month is free in the tbf iPhone app.

Can they see the card before the day?

No. It opens on the day, at the time you pick, so they cannot watch it fill up.

What stops somebody writing something nasty?

A check reads every message as it arrives and holds back threats, abuse, spam and scams. You can read what it held and put a message back.

What if I change my mind?

Take the card down before the day and it is refunded in full.

What is the tbf app?

An iPhone app for short notes to the people in your life. Each one starts tbf, and they keep the ones you send.

Can we do this at work?

Yes. tbf work makes somebody a card for the day they leave, a birthday or ten years, from the dates your HR system already holds.
